How much does it cost?

• Tuition is based on an annual rate, charged monthly. For the 2025/2026 season, a one-hour class $71 per month. As classes are added, the tuition rate per class decreases.

• There is an annual registration fee of $45 per student (maximum $60 per family). 

• Costumes for the Spring Recital Showcase are additional. Dancers keep their Recital costumes after the show.

• For the Winter Holiday Showcase, costume pieces are rented to performers. Dancers return the costumes after the performance.

What do I have to wear?

• Thursday's Ballet Technique class requires a black leotard and pink tights. Hair must be secured in a neat bun.

• For Hip Hop classes, wear comfortable clothing that you are able to move in. Examples might be sweatpants, t-shirts, leggings, or any dancewear.
• All other dance classes, you may wear any suitable dancewear: leotards, tights, leggings, dance shorts, close-fitting sports crop tops.
• Hair should be secured neatly off the face in a bun or a pony tail for all classes (except Ballet classes listed above where it must be in a bun).
• Jeans, tops with inappropriate logos, etc. are not acceptable for dance classes.
• Shoes for all dance classes will be announced at the beginning of the season.

Where do I find dance shoes?​.

• We offer many styles through your parent portal.

• There are still a couple of dance stores in Connecticut:​

• Alternatively, you can purchase dance shoes online through Amazon, DanceWearSolutions.com, DiscountDanceSupply.com, or one of many other dancewear sites.

Can I sit and watch my dancer in class?

• Unfortunately no. Dancers and performers become distracted by visitors during their classes. However, you are always welcome to peek into the windows at the back of the building! Your dancer will perform for you onstage at the holiday show and spring recital, as well as other community events that may become available.

When are you open?

• General office hours are Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00. Variations to hours are included in our weekly newsletter.

• In general, Astra Studio follows the Old Saybrook school system academic calendar for holidays and spring breaks. We do not close for teacher professional days.

• The regular season begins in September and ends in June.

• Summer Intensives are available in August.
