Astra Studio Dance Company Auditions
2026-2027 Competition Season

Dancers interested in joining the Astra Studio Dance Company are invited to audition for the 2026-2027 season.

 

Our company program is designed for dedicated dancers who want to train at a higher level, perform in featured routines, and represent Astra Studio at regional competitions and studio productions.

Dancers ages 9 and up are eligible to audition.

​

​Audition Date & Time

Saturday, June 27

1:00-5:00 PM

​​

​Registration is completed through the Astra Studio Parent Portal. New families may create an account during registration.

​​

​

​

Audition Format

During auditions, dancers will participate in a series of technique classes while our faculty evaluates:

  • Ballet / Technique

  • Strength & Flexibility

  • Jazz

  • Lyrical

  • Tap

  • •Acro

 

Our faculty also considers:

  • performance quality

  • focus and work ethic

  • attitude and teamwork

  • overall readiness for company training

The audition allows our instructors to determine the best placement for each dancer within the Astra Company program.

​

Company Placement

All Astra Company dancers participate in our Signature Production Company, a large ensemble routine that highlights teamwork, storytelling, and stage presence.

 

Dancers may be considered for placement in one or more of the following teams:

  • Junior Core Company (Jazz & Lyrical)

  • Teen and Senior Core Companies (Jazz, Lyrical & Musical Theatre)

  • Acro Company

  • Junior and Teen Tap Companies

Hip Hop Company placements are by invitation only.

​

​

Audition Commitment Fee

A $65 audition commitment fee is required to reserve a dancer’s audition spot.

​

This fee will be credited toward 2026–2027 Company fees for dancers who accept a company placement.

Audition fees are non-refundable.

​​

​

Summer Training Requirement

Dancers selected for the Astra Company are required to attend at least one Astra Summer Intensive Week.

 

The intensive helps dancers:

  • strengthen technique

  • connect with teammates

  • prepare for the upcoming competition season

What to Bring

Dancers should arrive prepared for a full audition class.

​

Please bring all the dance shoes you have:

  • Ballet shoes

  • Tap shoes

  • Jazz shoes

  • Half soles or Lyrical shoes

​

​

  • Water bottle

  • Hair secured away from the face

  • Wear a black leotard with pink or suntan tights

​

​

How Placement Decisions Are Made

Company placement is based on a combination of factors including:

  • technique and skill level

  • performance quality

  • training commitment

  • team balance and choreography needs

​

Some dancers may be placed in multiple company routines depending on their strengths and availability.

​

​

After the Audition

Families will be contacted following auditions with placement information and next steps.

​

Dancers who accept a company placement will receive additional information about:

  • rehearsal schedules

  • competition events

  • company expectations

  • season planning

​
