How much does it cost?

Tuition is based on an annual rate, charged monthly. For the 2023/2024 season, a one-hour class $68 per month. As classes are added, the tuition rate per class decreases.

There is an annual registration fee of $40 per student (maximum $50 per family).

Costumes for the Spring Recital Showcase are additional. For the Holiday Showcase, costume pieces are loaned to performers (a nominal cleaning fee is applied).
What do I have to wear?

Ballet Technique, Pointe, Pre-Pointe and Ballet 2 require a black leotard and pink tights. Hair must be secured in a neat bun.
- For Hip Hop and Acting classes, please wear comfortable clothing that you are able to move in. Examples might be sweatpants, t-shirts, leggings, or any dancewear.
- All other dance classes, you may wear any suitable dancewear: leotards, tights, leggings, dance shorts, sports bras.
- Hair should be secured neatly off the face in a bun or a pony tail for all classes (except Ballet classes listed above where it must be in a bun).
- Jeans, tops with inappropriate logos, etc. are not acceptable for dance classes.
- Shoes for all dance classes will be announced at the beginning of the season.

Can I sit and watch my dancer in class?

Unfortunately no. Dancers and performers become distracted by visitors during their training. In addition to the holiday and spring performances, we offer a livestream viewing option for parents of our youngest dancers.
When are you open?

General office hours are Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00. Variations to hours are included in our weekly newsletter.

In general, Astra Studio follows the Old Saybrook school system academic calendar for holidays and spring breaks. We do not close for teacher professional days.

The regular season begins in September and ends in June.

Summer classes are available in August.
